Hospital Reform (KHVVG): The service allocation notices are arriving – the transformation is now underway

Hospitals are currently eagerly awaiting their performance group notifications. The Medical Service’s assessments of the quality criteria are due to be completed by 31 July 2026. For hospitals, this means that, upon receipt of the notification, performance groups, supporting documentation and organisational requirements should be reviewed promptly.

Hospitals must assess which services they wish to expand, prioritise, provide in collaboration with partners or discontinue in future. This will lead to decisions regarding investment in medical technology, IT, infrastructure and digitalisation.

Many hospitals are looking to the Transformation Fund for support. However, funding alone does not bring about transformation. Once funding has been approved, projects must be managed, funds must be used correctly and compliance with funding bodies’ requirements must be documented in a transparent manner.

For many hospitals, a challenging journey is now beginning. The requirements are high, the decisions far-reaching and resources are scarce.
